Joyce Gardner, age 90, died peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2018 at her home in Long Eddy, NY. She was born on February 26, 1927 in Rock Valley, NY to Carl and Lettie (Rutz) Snyder. Joyce grew up in Philadelphia and spent many summers at her grandparents home in Rock Valley. She possessed a lifelong interest in music and played an accordion and piano until recent years. She spoke often of her early adult years working for an insurance company in Philadelphia and commuting on the tram to her home in Springfield, PA. Joyce met Victor Gardner at a square dance and they were married in 1952. She devoted her life to caring for her family and working on the farm.Joyce was pre-deceased by her husband Victor, her son Bruce and her sister Gloria (Snyder) OReilly. She is survived by her children Eileen (Jack) Hill of Monroe, Maine; James (Maureen) Gardner, Eric Gardner, and Karen Gardner of Long Eddy, New York; and Brenda (Eric Haffner) Gardner of Suffield, Connecticut; 7 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson.Joyce will be buried at the Gardner Family Cemetery in a private family service.
