Obituary

Joyce Owen Skinner, 85, was called home on Wednesday, December 26, 2013.Joyce, a lifelong resident of East Branch, NY, was born to Roy and Ethel Owen on December 1, 1928. She graduated from Hancock High School in 1946. A lifelong member of the East Branch Methodist Church, Joyce will be remembered by the lives she touched as a pianist, choir member, and Women's Auxiliary participant. She also enjoyed reading, listening to music, winning at Pinochle, and spending time with her friends and family. Although employed for many years as a postal worker at the East Branch Post Office, she is best remembered as a loving wife to Allan Kermit Skinner of 66 years, and a devoted mother to her five children. Joyce has been reunited with her parents and three siblings. She is survived by her adoring husband, Allan Skinner, of East Branch, her children: Lynn (Teresa) Skinner, of Hamden, NY; April Knox, of Waverly, NY; Calvin (Patricia) Skinner, of Cookville, TN; Dean (Susan) Skinner, of Port St. Lucie, FL; and Todd (Christine) Skinner, of Williamsport, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lara Kellerman, Bret Carpenter, Scot Knox, Brad Skinner, Sarah Skinner, Molly Skinner, Adam Skinner, Jordan Skinner and Ethan Skinner, her great grandchildren: Emily Tully, Connor Knox, Gavin Knox, Katrina Skinner, Matthew Skinner, Malcolm Skinner, and Ace Skinner, and her brother, Lynn Owen. A viewing will be held at East Branch Methodist Church from 11-1 on Monday, December 30, with the funeral and burial to follow. The family has requested that donations be made to Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Home in Hancock, NY.
