Kenneth A. MacMaster, 84, of Equinunk, PA, died on Friday, July 7, 2023 at home after an illness. He was born on March 24, 1939 in Ridgewood, NJ, the son of Francis X. and Lucetta (Basher) MacMaster. Ken married Carol Ann Schrier (Hathaway) on June 29, 1971 in Hancock, NY.
Ken worked at many jobs during his lifetime; truck driving, carpentry, home building, school bus and campground owner/operator, heavy equipment operator, house painter, and many more. His hobbies included toy train collecting and restoration, fishing, bowling; he was an avid golfer, and owned many John Deere tractors. Ken was a member of the Equinunk Fire Department for over 65 years. He lived a rich full life until physical issues began to slow him down. Grateful thanks to all the wonderful care he received during the last month and special thanks to Wendy Harrison, his friend, who cared for him for nearly 3 years. He will be sadly missed by family and all those who knew him.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Ann; 4 children: Brenda (Richard) Ramme, Van (Joanne) Schrier, Brian (Lynda) MacMaster, and Suzanne (Faron) Tuttle; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special friend and caregiver, Wendy Harrison. Ken was predeceased by 2 sons, Alan and Ronnie Schrier; a grandson, Andrew Schrier; a sister, Shirley Waxman; and a brother, Bill MacMaster.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 11AM-1PM followed by a memorial service at 1PM all at the Equinunk United Methodist Church, Equinunk, PA. Burial will be private in Union Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Ken's memory to the Equinunk Volunteer Fire Co., PO Box 67., Equinunk, PA 18417.
