Laura A. (Philpott) DElia, 69 of Hancock, passed away on October 1, 2022 at Bridgwater Center for Rehab and Nursing, Binghamton, NY after battling a year long illness. Laura was born on July 30, 1953 to Anthony and Bertha (Renn) Philpott in Teaneck, NJ, she was the oldest of five children. Laura came from and later went on to raise a large and close family. Laura married Jim DElia on February 19, 1971 in Tenafly, NJ. Together they raised six children. After moving from NJ to NY they finally settled in Hancock making it their home for 30 years. Over the years Laura worked in the cafeteria in the Hancock School and was also a cook in various restaurants around town. When she was not working she enjoyed having coffee and doing scratch offs at the Country Store, she loved to read, going to concerts, watching the Food Network, playing cards and attending her grandkids sporting events just to mention a few, but most of all she loved being with her family. She was the most selfless Mom and Nana there was. She was hardly seen without one or more of her kids or grandkids. She could be seen driving through town, blasting her music and singing loudly with her grandkids. All of which would repeatedly ask and try to get her to admit who her favorite was. She never did say, they were all her favorites! Laura was one of the strongest, funniest, hardest working mom and nanas out there, she took no crap and spoke her mind, one of the truest humans ever. She faced her illness head on, never complaining, she stayed strong and fought hard for her kids and grandkids. She was the center of her family and will be missed tremendously. Laura is survived by her six children, Jackie and husband Joe Petriella, Michael, Anthony and wife Debbie, John, Joe and wife Sara, and Jimmy Jr., 12 grandchildren, Joey Petriella and wife Kayla, Nick Petriella and wife Megan, Bella Petriella, AJ, Nicki, Jocelyn and boyfriend John Houck, Bailey Antidormi and husband Pete, Gabe, Joey, Jake, John Jr. and Jayden, 3 great grandchildren Francesca Petriella, Ronin and Lyra Antidormi. Laura is also survived by her 2 sisters Carol and husband Ray Roux, Sue and husband John Van Vorst, 2 brothers Rich Philpott and Dave and wife Gina Philpott. Laura is predeceased by her husband Jim. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 10AM at St. Pauls Church Hancock, NY. Burial will follow at St. Pauls Cemetery. Arrangements by Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.
