Laura J. Thomas, 70, of Hancock, NY, died on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City, NY. She was born in Hancock, NY, on January 12, 1953, the daughter of Bert and Beatrice (Stark) Hendrickson. Laura was an amazingly caring and humorous woman. She enjoyed sitting around talking and making jokes with everyone around her. Laura retired from Roscoe Community Nursing Home after 20 years. Laura spent her retirement enjoying much deserved rest and playing rummy with her neighbor, Sally. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and working in the stone quarry. Laura loved the song, "The Old Rugged Cross." Surviving are her daughter, Julie Thomas (Jim Manzer); 2 grandchildren, Delaura and Dixie Manzer; her beloved cat, Midnight; and many nieces and nephews. Laura was predeceased by her husband, Danny Thomas; her parents, Bert and Beatrice; and all her siblings: Ina Haynes, Bert, Ray, Willie, Gary, and Carl Hendrickson; and 3 half sisters: Betty, Edith, and Ruth.
