Lewis Edward Shaffer Sr., 76 of Fishs Eddy, NY, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 6, 2018. Lewis was born August 17,1942 to Lewis O. Shaffer and May (Compton) Buck of Corning, NY. He spent 51 years with the love of his life, his wife, Linda (Reed) Shaffer. Lewis was a Mason belonging to the Downsville Lodge NO. 464 F and A.M. since 1971. He graduated from SUNY Delhi where he tutored many students throughout the years. Lewis loved working in the stone quarry. He was also a construction worker and chairman of the Planning Board for the Town of Hancock for many years until his health started to deteriorate. Lewis was the rock of his family. He was always there to talk to, reason with, or just be the loving support anyone needed. Always loving and caring, he helped many area youth as a foster parent through the Harbour Program and Delaware County D.S.S, and playing Santa for the local Headstart and community events. Surviving are his wife Linda Shaffer of Fishs Eddy, NY, his children, Kimberly (Paul) Ronk, Newport News, VA, Lewis E. Shaffer Jr., Hancock, NY, Howard Shaffer, Fishs Eddy, NY, Kyle Shaffer, Fishs Eddy, NY, as well as his loving grandchildren, Skyler Shaffer, Austen Shaffer, Destany Shaffer, Landyn Shaffer, Mike Burnett, Donald Wood Jr, Colton Ronk, Matthew Bruen, and three great grandchildren. Also surviving him are his two brothers, Joseph Shaffer, Frank Buck Jr, his three sisters Ellen Gleason, Emma Cruz, Eunice Morse, his brother-in-laws Gary Reed, Franklin Reed, and Keith Nelson, who was more like a son to Lewis, sister-in-law Golondadelisha Swarthout, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, on Sunday May 27, 2018. Visitation will be from 1-2 with a Masonic Service at 1:30pm, and a memorial service following at 2pm. Interment of his ashes will take place at Partridge Island in Fishs Eddy, NY. A luncheon will follow at the East Branch Community Center to celebrate his life.
