Obituary

Mabel Rockefeller Ronk, 82, of Fishs Eddy, passed away September 7, 2017 in Harris Hospital, New York.A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel in Hancock, New York with interment immediately following in Riverview Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the Emory United Methodist Church.Mabel was born on May 20, 1935 in Cannonsville, New York to the late Henry and Mable Rockefeller. At an early age she was a wonderful cook and baker and when her mother passed away while she was a young girl, she took over the household. Her step-mother, Clara Rockefeller, was a wonderful addition to the family. Mabel was working at the Candy Land Restaurant when she met the love of her life, her husband of 62 years, Donald Ronk. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the American Legion. She also worked at Bard Parker for 28 years where she met numerous friends and enjoyed a good laugh. She was kind, good hearted and loved her family very much. Her apple pie was legendary. Mabel is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mable Rockefeller and Step-Mother Clara Rockefeller; two sisters, Lillian Smith and husband Barney, Marion Ewain and husband Walter; one brother Henry Rockefeller, Jr. and wife Helen, and two beloved dogs Jake and Mindy.Mabel is survived by her husband, Donald; son Donald Jr. of Fishs Eddy, son David and wife Linda of New Jersey; son Scott and Joan of Corbett; brother Thomas Rockefeller and wife Hazel of Virginia, one grand-daughter Leann, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Town of Hancock Ambulance, P.O. Box 733, Hancock, NY 13783, or the Hancock Fire Department, P.O. Box 833, Hancock, NY 13783.The family wishes to extend their gratitude to The Roscoe Nursing Home, The Harris Hospital, Jade Mason and the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel and family friends Rolland and Boomer Bojo for their support in her final days, and to the Rev Alison Grove.
