Obituary

Melvin Bolster, 81, of Fishs Eddy, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25th, in his home. Melvin was one of eight children, born a twin on August 29th, 1937 in Deposit, NY, to James "Barney" Bolster and Mary Fink Squires. Melvin served in the US Army Armed Forces from 1955 to 1958 and served in the US Army National Guard from 1958 to 1961. He was married to Emogina Squires for 25 years. He built their home in Fishs Eddy and his family will continue to cherish the many memories made there. Melvin worked at Philo Bass Saw Mill in Fishs Eddy, then became the head sawyer at Rocky Vitale Lumber Mill in Livingston Manor, NY for 42 years. He only took one sick day his entire career. He enjoyed family picnics at the river, fishing, mowing, hunting, yard sales, and visiting with friends. Most of all, Melvin will be remembered as an amazing father, grandfather and friend. He was a man who worked hard for all he had and expected no less from others. He was a kind and generous man who would give anything to someone in need. Survived are his brothers, Art (Texas) and Gerry (Hancock), his sister Virginia "Elsie"(Binghamton), his only daughter Peggy Sue Fenescey (Steve), his loving grand daughters, Crystal Brush(Lewis) and Michelle Forrester (Adam), great grandchildren, Ronnie, Emrehe, Baylie, and grand-dogs Teddie and Gus. He was predeceased by his twin, Nelson, his brothers Ed, Jim, and Leon. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 5th, 2019, from 5PM-7PM with a few words said at 6PM all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. Interment will take place at a later date in Riverview Cemetery, Hancock. Arrangements by Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.
