Michelle Lynn Laskowski Callan, November 30,1972 September 20, 2019, passed away on Friday September 20, 2019 from advanced melanoma at the young age of 47. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends listening to the sweet sounds of gardening and birds chirping. We know in our hearts she is tending to plants and flowers in the ultimate garden.
Our mother was a special kind of gem, her heart was made of pure gold. She gave a piece of her heart, love, support and guidance to each of us. We all were blessed to have her in our lives. No matter what chapter of life you met her in, you were touched by someone unique, an angel. She loved to garden and she spent hours on end tending to her plants. She was proud of her harvest even on days when she would be irate that the animals would be eating her beans. It drove her nuts that this year she planted beans three times.
She was someone who cooked full course meals plus dessert. She cooked for holidays, for fun, for her family and for her neighbors. You were lucky if you got to have some of her peanut butter frosting, yum!
She was a fierce mamma bear whose first mission were her kids. She did long wheelies and played with all the cool toys when we were younger, who went sledding with her kids after a back surgery, who jammed out to rock band, who loved corn more than any person should! She was someone who rode a hover board and laughed so hard.
She was a proud grandma. She spoiled them with all her love. She taught them all kinds of things; songs like patty cake and youve got a friend in me. She held them tight on sleepover nights, which was usually the best sleep gotten. She easily could spend hours laughing with kids past bedtime even in a tent. A grandma you wish you had!
We could write forever about how special she was, how kind her eyes were, how powerful the words she spoke were, the beauty in her smile, how vibrant her personality was, how contagious her laugh was and then some. We always will have her guidance and will find a way to navigate without our daughter, mother & our friend.
She wants us to take care of each other and live our lives to the fullest. She wants you to know how much she loved all of us and how appreciative she was for each of her friendships and family members. She wants her children to know that love you more. Shed tell you to look after her grand babies. She would tell us to check your skin for spots and to wear sunscreen.
Michelle is survived by her parents John Laskowski & Linda Phillips OBrien, and stepfather Mike OBrien; her brother Brent Laskowski (Kathy); her three babies Kaitlyn (Jay), Cassandra (Dan), and Ryan; her four grandchildren and whole heart: Harper, Melody, Henry, and Madelynn; and her dog Maggie. She is also survived by her best friend, and a large troop of supporters, family and friends near and far. So much love.
Friends & family will be received on Wednesday September 25, 2019 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm at Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock, NY, followed by a gathering at The Hancock House Hotel to celebrate Michelles life. Please bring a dish to share.
Mom really didnt want an abundance of flowers, she felt it was very sad. Instead she asked that we continue her work for Michelles Mission, which provides care packages for cancer patients during their treatment. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michelles memory on Wednesday or checks can be mailed to Kaitlyn Callan at 127 7th Ave Carbondale PA 18407. Michelle and her mission lives on in each of us!
We would like to thank Mary Holgate and Catskill Hospice team, especially Beth and Paula who helped do everything in their power to keep our mother pain free and comfortable at the end of her beautiful life.
