Nila J. Grant, 78, of Hancock, died on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City. She was born on November 1, 1935 in Hancock, the daughter of Floyd and Virginia (Lakin) Kingsbury. Nila married Peter Grant on July 12, 1970 in Hancock. She left Hancock for a period of time and obtained her Masters Degree in teaching and later retired from the Yonkers Federation of Teachers Union. Upon retirement, Nila and Peter returned to Hancock. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.Surviving are her husband, Peter, and a large extended family. She was predeceased by a brother, Jack Kingsbury. Per Nila's wishes, there will be no services at this time. Memorial donations can be made in Nila's memory to the Emory United Methodist Church, 89 E Main St., Hancock, NY 13783.
