Richard A. Dillon, 76, of Hancock, NY, died on Monday, September 28, 2015 at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, after a short illness. He was born on April 7, 1939 in Bath, NY, the son of William and Bertha (Shaw) Dillon. Richard married Joan Van Wickle on October 7, 1961 in Worchester, MA. He served in education for 55 years and retired as Superintendent of Schools from Hancock Central School. Richard was currently a member of the DCMO Boces Board of Education. He enjoyed serving others and helping financially at the Orange Lake Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry. Surviving are his wife, Joan, 1 daughter, Sally and husband Jonathan Retz, and 1 son, Bill and Sherry and her daughter, Alyssa, and 3 granddaughters, Grace, Sarah and Emma Retz. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Glenn Van Wickle and an aunt, Grace Dillon. Richard was predeceased by a sister. A Celebration of Richard's life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 6PM at the Hancock Central School Auditorium.
