Richard Dix, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Monday, April 7,2014, at the young age of 67.
Richard was the oldest child born to Olan and Esther (Wayman) Dix in Hancock, NY, on January 26, 1947. He was a jack of all trades and a helping hand to all. A carpenter by trade and a lover of woods gave him a talent that was enjoyed by many. His passion for photography and nature produced drawers full of pictures that will be cherished by his family.
Richard is survived by his best friend, soulmate, and wife, Dixie, his brother, Gerald Dix, and 2 sisters, June Dix Allen, and Dianne Dix Wolff. He is also survived by a daughter, Fawn Dix, 3 stepchildren, Brian Prusik (Heather), Michael Prusik (Jennifer), and Ashlee Wheeler ( Michael), a son-in-law, Shawn Nordstrom, 9 grandchildren, Melinda Dix, Andrew Stalker, Thomas, Sabrina, and Sage Nordstrom, Adam and Grant Prusik, and Kylie and Tyler Prusik, and many nieces, nephews, especially Ethan, Kyle, and Sierra Tompkins, whom he was guardian for since 2007, and cousins. Richard was predeceased by a daughter, Shannon Dix Nordstrom, and a brother, Anthony (Doc) Dix.
Pallbearers were Gerald Dix, Greg Gately, Keller Dix, Jason and Andrew Stalker, Shawn Nordstrom, and Ethan and Kyle Tompkins.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 11th, 2014 from 6-8PM. There will be a funeral service held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 1PM all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. Burial will follow in Kingsbury Hill Cemetery, Starlight, PA.
