Richard "Rick" Ostrander, 67, of Hancock, NY, passed away on February 17, 2025 at Wilson Medical Center.

Rick was born in Hancock, the son of Ivan and Margie (Burnett) Ostrander. He attended Hancock Central School and graduated in 1976. After graduation, Rick worked at construction and logging prior to taking a position as truck driver/laborer for the DOT in Hancock. After retiring from the DOT, Rick spent his years perfecting his wood carving skills. He became quite proficient at carving kitchen utensils, barrettes, ornaments, and other various trinkets.

Rick spent many years volunteering as an EMT/fireman for the Hancock Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife, Ann (Peters) Ostrander; brother, Roger (Bonnie), Hancock, NY; sister, Patty (Joe) Portalono, FL; his trusty basset hound, Fred; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rick was predeceased by his parents, Ivan and Margie, and a brother, Jim.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 1PM-4PM at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.
