Robert "Bob" Wood, 83, of Equinunk, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord on September 6th, 2020. He was born on December 17th, 1936 to the late Muriel (Cavanaugh) and Merlyn Wood. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen (Walter) Wood; two brothers, Gerald Wood and wife Ginny of Newark Valley NY, Harrison Wood and wife Mary of Wellsboro PA; two daughters, Denise Gabel and husband Skip of Callicoon NY and Julie Seaman of Millville PA; four grandsons, Robert Seaman and wife Kelsey White of Bellefonte PA, John Seaman and Jessica Whitenight of Millville PA, Benjamin Seaman, Sean Gabel of Callicoon NY; two great-grandchildren, Arya and Augustus White of Bellefonte PA, and many more cherished family members. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Raymond Wood, and a sister, Sandra Hines. Bob grew up on Fork Mountain, in Equinunk, and was a lifelong farmer, as well as a veteran, having served in the United States Army for three years. He was truly a jack-of-all-trades and held jobs ranging from bus driver to saw mill worker. In his later years, Bob was a substitute rural mail carrier and eventually earned the title of Postmaster of Equinunk. Bob was heavily involved in his community and served in various organizations. A devoted Christian, he was a congregant of the Equinunk United Methodist Church, as well as a proud and active member of the Equinunk Historical Society, the Wayne County Holstein Association and the Manchester Township Planning Commission. One of his favorite events, in the last few years, was giving tours at the Joel Hill Saw Mill and becoming part of the "Brotherhood of the Mill". A people person, through and through, Bob loved telling stories and always had a good joke at the ready. He was an American Picker of sorts, collecting antique glass bottles, glass insulators and post cards, and he loved sharing his collections with others. In the Equinunk Choir, you could pick his baritone voice out of the crowd and his admiration of music was loved by all attendees. He lived a life of service to others and was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it be family, neighbors or a friend. Bob lived for his family, his friends, and the farm and it was a full life, indeed. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and messages of love throughout Bobs surgery and subsequent illness. Funeral services will be held privately, due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, a celebration of life will be held at a future date.
