Rocco (Scott) Vincent Possemato, 85, East Branch, NY, passed away at home, February 1, 2016 with his family by his side. Scott leaves his wife of 61 years, Helen Jones Possemato; sons, Scott (Karen) and Todd (Kathy); daughters, Sonia (Ted) Ptasznik and Heidi Possemato; grandchildren, Blake (Brionne) Henderson, Rocco Blaine Henderson, Todd Possemato Jr.,Scott (Melinda and Averiona) Possemato Jr., Alana Henderson, Alexa (Derek) Rowlands, and Ali (Mahmoud) Sousi and great grandchildren, Kiahna, Lyliana, Enzo, Axedon, Kruz, Amira, Oliver, and one on the way. Scott leaves a special sister, Florence Vitale, who helped raise him after their father died; sisters-in-law, Lenora Jones and Margaret Hartmann; brother-in-law, Adam (Kathy) Jones, and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters -in-law, Ralph (Ann), Pat ( Annie), Frank (Elizabeth), sister, Irene (Carme) Vitale, brothers -in-law Rocky Vitale, Albert Hartmann and Harry Jones, many nieces, nephews, and Possemato and DeSerio cousins. Scott was born July 18, 1930 to Rocco Pasquale Possemato and Theresa Elizabeth DeSerio Possemato. Scotchie attended elementary school in Cadosia and then Hancock Central, where he excelled in football and where he made lifelong friends. He was a happy, kind, loving man. We look forward to the resurrection in Paradise when he will have the great joy of being reunited with his parents and all those he has lost in death. Where "death will be no more, neither sorrow, nor outcry, nor pain". Where the "meek will inherit the earth" and the "former things "( painful memories) "will not be called to mind , nor will they come up into the heart". We will miss him til then and we are thankful for the memories and the laughter. He was a joy to be with, very patient, and always expressed his appreciation. Hospice and Dr. Michael Freeman provided more than excellent care and support, which we are grateful for as it allowed him remain at home.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016, from 6-8PM at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.Donations can be made in Scott's memory to Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Dr., Oneonta, NY 13820.
