Romaine E. Crawford, 92, of Hancock, NY, died on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Honesdale, PA. She was born on June 12, 1932 in Hancock, the daughter of Jay W. and Arlene (Wildenstein) Decker.

Romaine married Robert V. Thorne and he predeceased her on July 12, 1969. She then married James W. Crawford and he predeceased her on May 3, 2013.

Romaine worked several years as an LPN. She was a member of the Shehawken United Methodist Church and then Emory United Methodist Church and was a Sunday school teacher in both churches. She was also a Girl Scout Leader in her younger years. Romaine loved family gatherings and cooking for her family. She enjoyed flowers and time spent in her gardens.

Surviving are 2 children, Craig (Dorrie) Thorne and Cathy Travis; 6 grandchildren: Vonnie (Sam) Lewis, Stacey Direnzo, Bobby Thorne, Jason (Danielle) Thorne, Joshua (Kristen) Rice, and Elizabeth Johnson; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Karl (Reshella) Decker; brother in law, George Crawford; several nieces and nephews; daughter in law, Debbie Thorne; and 2 sons in law, William Foster and Bob Rice. Romaine was predeceased by 3 children: Robert Thorne Jr., Colleen Foster, and Pam Rice; sister, Norma Menhennett; and brother, Jay Decker Jr.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024 from 11AM-1PM followed by a funeral service at 1PM all at the Emory United Methodist Church, Hancock. Burial will follow in the Shehawken Cemetery, Shehawken, PA.
