The patriarch of the Schoonmaker family passed away unexpectedly in his home on March 20, 2015.Born in Hancock, NY, on April 6, 1935 he is survived by his wife of 57 years Bertha (Roney) Schoonmaker. He is further survived by three sons, Kenneth (Lisa), Stephen, and Jeffrey, and one daughter, Karen, six grandchildren Bradley and Erin Lobdell, Justin and Brandee Schoonmaker, and Ryan and Rachel Schoonmaker. He is also survived by three brothers and one sister in law, two sisters and two brothers in law and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.Ron served his country in the US Army from September 27, 1953 and was discharged September 27, 1956, serving most of his time in Korea.Ron was instrumental in bringing the Cable TV to Hancock while working with his father, Alfred, in the Hancock TV Sales and Service for 20 plus years. He also worked at Becton Dickinson as an electrician for 20 plus years and at Camp Equinunk as an electrician/ maintenance/ and driver for 10 years.He dedicated many years to the Hancock Rescue Squad and the Hancock Fire Dept.Ron was cremated and there are no calling hours per his wishes.All his family and his friends are invited to his home to share memories from Saturday, March 21st thru Saturday, March 28th.Arrangements were made through Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hancock Rescue Squad or to the charity of one's choice.
