Russell Wayne Thurston, 58, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, October 2, 2017 and entered into the arms of God.Russell was born September 21, 1959 at The Hospital Sidney, NY to Kenneth B. and Ferral Dean Thurston. He attended Sidney Central School and Unatego Jr. Sr. High School. He served in the Marine Corp and later attended Coastal Carolina Community College.Russell married Brenda Biedekapp on May 23, 2000 in Cooperstown, NY. She predeceased him on May 6, 2016. He was also predeceased by his mother Ferral Dean Thurston and his sister-in-law Daryl (Jones) Thurston and hIs father-in-law Wilbur I. Biedekapp.He is survived by his father Kenneth B. Thurston Sr., his mother-in-law Sandra and her husband Paul Bartholomew, Lori Constable Thurston the mother of his children. His children Sheryl Oglesby and daughters Abigail, Julia and Gracie; Melissa Sherraden (Shawn) and daughter Adeline; and Michael Thurston (Katie) and sons Connor, Roman and Henry survive him. He is also survived by his brothers Kenneth B. Thurston Jr. , Steven David Thurston (Donna) and sisters Lynne Althea Shanks (Daniel) , Mary Ellen Harageones (Jim), his beloved dog Shadow as well as many nieces and nephews.He was a member of the Northfield Baptist Church for many years. He was employed by ARC of Delaware County for the past several years.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 12PM-2PM at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. A graveside service will immediately follow in Riverview Cemetery, Hancock, with military honors, where Russ will be buried next to his wife.
