Ruth Ann (Karcher) Geer, RN of Orlando, FL, formerly of Starlight, PA, died on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at AdventHealth Winter Park, FL. She was born on February 11, 1943 in Deposit, NY, the daughter of Harold O. and Ruth J. (Shanly) Karcher. She grew up on her familys farm in Scott Center, PA. After graduating from Hancock Central School in 1961, Ruth Ann attended the Binghamton General Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her Registered Nurse diploma in 1964. She married DeWayne Geer in 1965, and they had two children together.
Ruth Ann was a lifelong caregiver, working as a Registered Nurse for 48 years in Upstate New York and Orlando, Florida. She lived her life by setting an example of faith, love, honesty, loyalty and fun. Her infectious laugh could brighten the darkest day; and her caring and compassion for others guided her existence. She was not a fan of technology, however she mastered texting, and her daily messages of inspiration were appreciated by so many. Ruth never forgot a birthday or special occasion, and marked each with a thoughtful card, call or a text.
In addition to her parents, Ruth Ann was predeceased by two brothers: Harold Karcher and Vaughn Karcher, three sisters in law: Dawne Karcher, Patricia Karcher and Sandra Karcher, a nephew: Kris Karcher, and a sister by heart, Patricia Cower. She is survived by her children: Patricia Geer (Lisa Saeman), Winter Garden, FL, and Kenneth Geer (Karen Finkenauer-Geer), Ocoee, FL; a twin brother, Ronald Karcher, Orlando, FL; brother in law James (Mary Ann) Geer; sisters in law Winifred Larsen and Diane (Bill) Prentice; her very special nieces and nephews who have provided support and love from afar; and several cousins and close friends, many of whom were a source of comfort during Ruths recent health challenge.
A celebration of Ruths life will be held on Sunday, May 2 at 1:00 at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake, Pavilion #4, in Orlando, FL.
