Samantha Bernice Van Tyle Doerr, age 39, passed away on August 15, 2024 after a lifelong struggle with medical issues and surgeries. Samantha was born in Binghamton, NY, on June 2, 1985 and was the adopted daughter of Robert and Angelia Van Tyle.

Samantha graduated from Hancock Central School in 2004. She was active in chorus and was a member of the high school tennis team. Being born with one arm made a lot of everyday tasks a challenge for her. She rose to the challenge and conquered anything that presented itself to her. During her parents 25 years of foster care, she was the big sister to dozens of children who passed through their home.

Samantha was predeceased by her mother, Angelia Van Tyle in 2016. She is survived by her father, Robert and wife Paula Van Tyle of Oxford, NY; her brother, Clifford and wife Amanda Van Tyle and niece, Angelia of Meshoppen, PA, and an adopted sister, Katrina ( Matthew) Van Tyle of Stamford, NY.

Samantha was happiest when spending time with her family and enjoyed chatting with friends, walking, and watching TV. She leaves behind her beloved kitty, Sadie, who was her constant companion. Samantha was a born again believer and looked forward to the day when she would be in Heaven and could clap her hands for the first time.

A family service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date in Riverview Cemetery, Hancock, NY.
