Steven M. Bennett, 66, known to his friends as " Steve Eye", of Hancock, NY, died on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, NY, after a short illness. He was born on November 22, 1950 in Hancock, NY, the son of Francis L. and Stella A. (Dugon) Bennett. Steve was an Air Force Veteran, serving from 1971-1975. He was a diehard Buffalo Bills fan and an avid fisherman that took many of his nieces and nephews out for a very fun and interesting time as he showed them his way of fishing. One of his favorite things to do was taking the kids out and having them look for "snipe". He would have them going around yelling " here snipe" and sit and smile while they were doing it. They never did find any. Steve loved family reunions and just sitting outside on his picnic table enjoying the fresh air. Surviving are 1 sister, JoAnn Schaeffer and husband Mark, and Paul Bennett and significant other, Cricket, 2 aunts, 2 uncles, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and 1 great great nephew. Steven was predeceased by his parents, 1 sister, Barbara Schloss, and several aunts and uncles. Stevens request was for cremation and private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
