Sylvia J. Hallstead, 72, of Hancock, died on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton, after a short illness. She was born on August 14, 1944 in Herrick Center, PA, the daughter of Elmer and Louise (Chura) Maslar. Sylvia married Richard Hallstead on October 27, 1962 in Forest City, PA. She was an active member of St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Hancock and worked for Senior Meals for many years. Sylvia loved gardening and enjoyed her crossword puzzles. Surviving are her husband, Dick, 2 sons, Rich (Kim) and Chris (Kathie Lacey), 5 grandchildren, Morgan, Christopher Jr., JJ, Maygan, and Leal Hallstead, 4 sisters, Louise Petrus, Marion Borick, Joanne Stephens, and Pat Dolph, and many nieces and nephews. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, 1 sister, Marge Balunas, 1 brother, Elmer Maslar, and 2 sons, at birth, Jerry and Larry. Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 2-4 & 5-7 at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.
