Theodore G. (Ted) Darling, 100, of Hancock, NY, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015 after a short illness. He was born on October 27, 1914 in Youngsville, PA, the son of Charles and Emma (George) Darling. Ted married Virginia Grant on December 23, 1939 in Youngsville, PA. She predeceased him on January 30, 2002. Ted came to Hancock, NY, at a young age to work for Ramburg's Saw Mill, and later met his wife, Jean. The company was eventually owned by Larimer and Norton and then, at Ted's time of retirement 45 yrs later, Hillerich and Bradsby, a company that produced billets which were sent to H&B in Louisville, KY, where they were finished into Louisville Slugger baseball bats. Ted was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather that worked hard and provided for his family. He was an avid hunter who left behind many funny hunting stories including his wife, Jean, son Ted, 2 sons in law, Harvey and Edwin, and his grandsons. The memories will be with Ted's family for many years to come. Surviving are 3 children, Sharon D. and husband Harvey D. English Jr., Theodore A. and wife Penny Darling, and Betty J. Worzel, 9 grandchildren, H. Douglas English III, Darlene E. Longaberger and special friend Mark, Mike English and wife Jane, Jennifer and husband Jason Hunt, Tod Darling, Lucinda and husband Wayland Ryder, James Darling and fianc, Edwin (Skip) and wife Carol Worzel, and Rick Worzel and fiance Karen, 3 step grandchildren, Roger and Eric Gilbertsen, and Richard Carmen, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Ted was predeceased by his special friend, Betty Gales, son in law, Edwin Worzel, infant grandson, Mark Worzel, 3 brothers, Bill, Roy, and Clyde, and 3 sisters, Bernice, Laura, and Carrie. A visitation was held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 12-1 with a memorial service following at 1 all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.
