Obituary

Theresa (Fortunato) DaBrescia, 92, of Hancock, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Elizabeth Church Manor in Binghamton, NY. Born on May 24, 1926 in Cadosia, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maria Teresa (Pirro) Fortunato. She was predeceased by five brothers, Joe (Arlene) Fortunato, Al (Elaine) Fortunato, Tony (Joyce) Fortunato, Rocky (Katie) Fortunato, and Frank (Bea) Fortunato; two sisters, Mary (Scott) Henderson and Louise Senia. She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Alfred (Skip) DaBrescia, who resides at Elizabeth Church Manor, Binghamton NY; "where you saw one, you saw the other". She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, especially Susan (Fortunato) Timashenka, Filene (Senia) Travis, and Jerry DaBrescia who showed unwavering care and love, and numerous grand-nieces and nephews who all held a special place in her heart. Theresa graduated from Hancock High School. In her early years, Theresa worked in the insurance office of Fred Dix. She enjoyed spending her days with her sister, Louise, and special niece, Filene. Later she worked as an associate of the FN Conlon Store. She became the manager of FN Conlons where she found true joy spending her days with her customers and coworkers, selecting the merchandise for the store, and helping you find the perfect item or gift. She made every holiday special for anyone who sat down at her table with her kindness and generosity. She was a communicant of St. Pauls Catholic Church in Hancock, NY. She was an avid NY Yankees and Duke Blue Devils Fan. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, January 3 from 5:00-7:00pm at Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, 29 E Main St, Hancock, NY. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 4 at 11:00am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 346 West Main Street, Hancock, NY with burial following at St. Pauls Cemetery, Hancock, NY. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church or the Lisa DaBrescia Scholarship Fund c/o the Hancock Community Education Foundation, P.O. Box 819, Hancock, NY, 13783.
