Theron George Evanitsky passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and his loving wife by his side, on October 13th, 2025 at the age of 82.

He was born to Joseph and Elma Evanitsky on August 12th, 1943.

Theron held many titles throughout his life. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1962-1965. After his service, he worked a variety of jobs until he found his role at the New York State Department of Transportation, where he retired in 2006 and true to his nature, went right back to work as an independent contractor less than a year later. He also volunteered his time at the Lakewood Fire Department as a First Responder and Fire Captain.

Theron was a hard worker, and selfless friend, but above all else, he was a family man. He married his wife of nearly 60 years, Linda Dufton, on December 31st, 1965. Together, they raised 4 children and 6 grandchildren. As a family, they enjoyed camping trips and fishing. Whether it was a birthday, anniversary, or graduation, Theron was always there to support his grandchildren. On the weekends, he would enjoy sleepovers with the girls, and Sunday morning coffee with his brother, Andy.

Theron was predeceased by his parents, Elma and Joseph, siblings, Andrew, David, and Michael Evanitsky and Juanita Dumond (Evanitsky), along with many friends and colleagues.

He leaves behind his wife, Linda Evanitsky, children, Matoka Martin (Edward), Patricia Fuller (Thomas), Theron Christopher Evanitsky (Jody), Nicole Foster (Sean), grandchildren, Thomas Fuller, Jamie Martin, Jessica O'Brien (Shane), Connor Foster, Gavin Foster, Trysten Evanitsky, and sister, Matoka Evanitsky.

A celebration of life will be held on November 8th, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Hancock Golf Course.
