Vaughn I. Buchanan, 81, of Starrucca, PA, died on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Honesdale, PA, after a long illness. He was born on February 13, 1945 in Susquehanna, PA, the son of Orval and Eleanor (Van Loan) Buchanan.

Vaughn enjoyed many things in life, including fishing, hunting, farming, and in his younger years, bowling. He also enjoyed Friday and Saturday nights at the races and his time spent on walks with his sister, Kay. Vaughn worked many different jobs throughout his life, including logging, stone cutting, working on the farm, and plowing snow. During his last years at the nursing home, he enjoyed visits from his family, especially his great-grandson, where they would spend time together reading Bible verses. These moments brought him great joy and were very special to him. Vaughn was a member of Deposit Community Church for several years.

Surviving are 3 children: Vaughn”Bucky” (Dianne), Joe (Hope), and Brenda (JW); 10 grandchildren: Clarissa Nagel, Christina Buchanan, Cirsten Matoushek, Cassie Buchanan, Bailey Reed, Alden Buchanan, Adrianna Buchanan, Hailey Buchanan, Ashton Isby, and Rya Mullen; several great grandchildren; sister, Eileen (Kay) Wormuth; and many nieces and nephews. Vaughn was predeceased by 3 sisters: Joyce Smith, Iva Wood, and Cassandra Hadden; and son in law, James Mullen.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 11AM-1PM followed by a funeral service at 1PM all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. Burial will follow in Balls Eddy Cemetery, Starlight, PA.
