Virginia Marie Shea MacFetrich, 94, of Hancock, NY, went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2018. She was born on November 27, 1923 in Hancock, NY, the daughter of Guy and Martha Schild Shea. Virginia was a 1942 graduate of Hancock Central School. From January of 1943 through June of 1946 she worked as an inspector at IBM. She also worked for Hancock Central School for 42 years as pool matron, a teachers aide, and the majority of those years, as a bus driver. Driving the school bus brought her great joy. She loved carrying the many students over the roads. It wasnt just the driving, but the love she had for the children and watching them grow through several generations as well as the pleasure she found in nature, the changing seasons, and the beauty of Gods creation around her. Virginia had three passions in life; her strong faith in God, her family and friends, and driving. She married her high school sweetheart, Harland Franklin MacFetrich, July 1, 1946. They were lifelong residents of Hancock. Together they raised their family and were active members of the Hancock Baptist Church since 1946. Virginia was the last original member of a community Bible Study formed in 1972. These ladies and the weekly study meant a great deal to her. She found great excitement and eternal joy each time someone joined the group. Surviving are her children, Mark MacFetrich, Fleetwood, PA, Noreen (Dan) Wessels, Oxford, NY, Renee (David) Bosket, Hancock, NY, and Noel MacFetrich, NYC, 3 grandchildren, Joseph (Nicole) Isaacs, Sherburne, NY, Jessica MacFetrich, Exeter, PA, and Katie Bosket, Fitchburg, WI, and 4 great grandchildren, Allison, Jacob, Riley, and Kayleigh Issacs. She was predeceased by her husband, Harland. A gathering to celebrate Virginias life will be held on August 11, 2018, from 11:00-2:00 at her home in Hancock.
