Obituary

Wayne Lawrence Faigle, affectionately known as Poppy, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born to Herbert Lawrence Faigle, who survives him, and Olive Jane Faigle, who preceded him in death, Wayne was a beacon of compassion and humor in the lives of all who knew him.

A proud veteran, Wayne served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, embodying the values of duty and honor. Before entering the military service, he married his beloved wife, Deborah Anne Kelley, in 1969. Together, they nurtured a family that would grow to include their three children, Kellie Lee (Don), Jason Faigle (Valerie), and Gwendolyn Faigle (Walter), and were blessed with grandchildren Karissa, Kalianna, Karaya, Gavin, Zophiel, Leah, and great-grandchildren Emma and Zachary.

Wayne's career as a prison guard reflected his foundational belief in treating everyone with dignity and respect. He later transitioned to working with at-risk youth, driven by a passion to guide them towards bright futures beyond incarceration. His impactful storytelling, often sprinkled with his trademark sarcasm, and his comforting hugs will be remembered by many.

A graduate of Hancock High School and King's College, where he earned a bachelor's degree, Wayne was a lifelong learner and teacher. He leaves behind his father Herbert Lawrence Faigle , sister Sandra Zaczek, and a community enriched by his presence.

Wayne's legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering care continues in the lives of those he touched. We will gather to honor and celebrate Wayne's life on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 11 AM at Riverview Cemetery, where we will share stories, laughter, and tears, much like he would have wanted.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Greenhouse Project, 200 Arthur Ave, Scranton, PA 18510, or online at www.scrantongreenhouse.org in honor of Wayne's commitment to service and community. Wayne's life was a testament to the power of caring deeply for others and living with a generous heart. He will be dearly missed, but his lessons of love and courage will endure in all of us.
