Wayne D. Hunt of Lakewood, PA died peacefully in his sleep after a short illness on September 8, 2024.

Wayne was the son of Guerdon and Elinor Hunt of Lakewood, PA. He was born on June 4, 1951 in Hancock and worked on the family farm while growing up. Wayne graduated from Hancock Central School in 1969. Following graduation, Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served four years, primarily assigned to Germany.

Wayne married Della Olsen from Jeffersonville, NY and had one daughter, Tina.

He worked at the American Envelope Co. in Union NJ, then upon reentering the area, he worked for Gustin Stone for several years.

Wayne was a lifetime member of the Buckingham Baptist Church in Starlight PA and a member of the American Legion Post 209 in Lakewood.

After his return to the area Wayne took a room at the Lakewood Lodge and made it his home for 25 years. Anyone visiting the "Lodge" was sure to run into him! He was outgoing and friendly and enjoyed sitting and chatting with lodge guests.

Wayne had a large collection of cd's. He loved his music and often volunteered to play them for events. His favorite group was Fleetwood Mac. He loved sports, being a Baltimore Oriole fan, Oakland Raiders fan and New York Knicks fan. He also was an avid fisherman. You could find him playing solitaire often in the back room of the Lodge. He was a very generous man, often so generous in helping others out that he left little behind for himself.

Surviving Wayne is his beloved daughter, Tina (Roger Geer) and his granddaughter, Patience Geer. Surviving siblings include brothers Dennis Hunt, Bryn Mawr, PA and Evan Hunt of Henrico VA; sisters Dawn Gotthardt of Hancock, NY, Audrey Hunt of Honesdale, PA, Jo Ann (Beharry) Ramnandan of Lafayette, LA, and Martha (David) Trinca of Mechanicsville, VA. Also a sister in law, Peggy (Guerdon) Hunt. Also surviving is his very special friend, Val McGraw, as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents Guerdon and Elinor Hunt of Lakewood, PA, brothers Guerdon and Gary and sister Theresa.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 11AM-1PM with a funeral service following at 1PM all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.

Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Hancock, NY.

Donations may be made to the Buckingham Baptist Church, 185 Starlight Lake Road, Starlight, PA 18461 in Wayne's memory.
