Obituary

William L. Barrie Jr., "Joaquin", 59, of Hancock, NY, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City, NY, after an illness. He was born on November 11, 1965 in Miami Dade County, FL, the son of William L., who was a decorated US Veteran who gave his all in Vietnam, and Dolores Barrie, who was an english and spanish interpreter.

Joaquin considered himself a rainbow warrior and a dedicated dead head. He was a skilled tradesman and dedicated his life to helping others and started the "Cult of Sanctuary" in which he pledged to provide shelter to anyone in need.

Surviving are his sister, Kathryn O'Connor and her family; and many brothers and sisters in the Woodstock family. Joaquin was predeceased by his mother and father; special friend and mentor, Little Hawk; spiritual brother, Daniel "Kimo"; and his special dog, Polaris.

"The earth is your mother, she holds you. The sky is your father, he protects you. The rainbow is your sister, she loves you. The wind is your brother, he sings to you, "Hoka Hey Ho" The earth is weeping…"

A memorial for Joaquin will be held at a date to be announced.
