Obituary

William George Roney

1947 – 2025

William George Roney, affectionately known as "Bill," passed away peacefully at the age of 78. Born in Hancock, New York, William later made his home in Lakewood, Pennsylvania, where he spent his years surrounded by family, friends, and the beauty of the outdoors he so deeply loved.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Bill served his country with honor and dedication. From the very beginning, he was known for his strength — earning the nickname "Dynamite" at birth — and he carried that strength throughout his life.

Bill found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved hunting, fishing, and taking long drives, finding peace and purpose in the quiet moments of nature. His warm heart, steady presence, and love for his family will be remembered always.

He is survived by his daughters, Crystal Roney and Eileen Roney; his sisters, Bertha Schoonmaker and Shirley Bennett (Lloyd) Emma Roney (sister in law)as well as several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Roney; his parents, Merle and Dorothy Roney; his sister, Susan Brooker; and his brothers, Bob Roney and Barry Roney.

Bill will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and enduring love for family and the outdoors. His work ethic was outstanding anyone who knew him or worked with him throughout his life could hands down agree to this. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service to honor Bill's life will be held at a later date.
